Policies

Registration

Reserving your spot
In order to ensure that a spot has been reserved for you and your child in your 1st choice class, please make sure to register early and submit full payment, or a $25/child or $45/family non-refundable deposit at the time of registration.
Payment Due Date
Full payment is the tuition + materials fee, and must be submitted by the Start Day of your class.
Late Registration
You may register for class after the Start Day only if there is still space in the class. Tuition will then be pro-rated, dependent on how many sessions are left until the end of the quarter. There will be no discount on materials for late registrants.

Cancellation and Refunds

Cancellation before Class Start Day
If you must cancel your registration, you will receive a full tuition refund, less the non-refundable deposit, if you inform your instructor at least one week before the Start Day of your class.
Materials Fee Refund
Materials will only be refunded if they are unopened or unused, and only if you cancel before the Start Day of your class. Materials will not be refunded after the Start Day of the class.
Cancellation after Class Start Day
If you must cancel your registration after the Start Day of your class, you will receive a tuition refund, less the non-refundable deposit, on a pro- rated basis in effect one week after you have notified your instructor.
Scholarships
I believe strongly in making my music classes accessible to all families. If you are experiencing financial hardship or other difficulty, please write me a detailed letter explaining your situation, and what you hope to gain from attending Joyful Sound Musik classes. Financial aid will be determined on a case-by-case basis, and will be kept confidential.

Absences and Makeups

The Makeup Pass
If you must miss a class, you may contact the instructor to receive a Makeup Pass. You may use the Makeup Pass to join any other classes that are age- appropriate for your child. Please notify your instructor 24 hours in advance of the makeup class that you will be attending and present the Makeup Pass to the instructor at the beginning of the class. The Makeup Pass is valid as long as your child is registered with Joyful Sound Musik. The Makeup Pass may not be redeemed for cash value.

Class Cancellation

Instructor Illness
In the event that the instructor is ill and must cancel the class, a makeup class will be added to the schedule. Usually, this makeup class will be added at the end of the quarter, and may occur on a different day than the day that your class is normally held.
Inclement Weather
In the event of inclement weather or natural catastrophe, classes will be cancelled definitively if the Seattle School District has declared district- wide school closures. In the event of a district-wide late start, Joyful Sound Musik classes will be held on time. All other events that might indicate cancellation of classes will be decided on a case by case basis, and you will be notified by email at least one hour before the beginning of class.

Guests in the Class

Alternate Caregivers, Parents or Other Adults
Alternate Caregivers and parents are welcome to join the class with the enrolled child.
Enrolled sibling
Your class is a special time of bonding and activity between you and your enrolled child. If your enrolled child has a sibling who is registered in another class, the sibling is welcome to join the class, provided they will not be disruptive or divert your attention from the enrolled child. Siblings who are registered for their own classes may find it easier to sit quietly if they have their own class to look forward to.
Un-enrolled sibling
Only younger, un-enrolled siblings may join a class, provided they can sit quietly and will not divert your attention from your participation with your enrolled child. Please consider alternate care for older, un-enrolled siblings.

I understand that I have enrolled my child/children in a Joyful Sound Musik class. I have read and will comply with studio policies, as detailed on the website. I understand that a $25 non-refundable class deposit per child ($45 non-refundable deposit per family), or full payment is required for the registration to be accepted. I agree to submit a $25 cash fee for all returned checks. I understand that if I need to withdraw from a class, I must inform the instructor at least 1 week before the start day of the class in order to receive a full refund, less the applicable non-refundable deposit. Materials will only be refunded if they are undamaged or unopened. I understand that I am responsible for my child's safety and well-being and waive the right to legal action should my child sustain any injuries or illnesses before, during and after Joyful Sound Musik classes and activities.
